Fifteen
26 May 2026
Rainy run with Bobby this morning. Wasn’t going to go. Thought what the heck.
We both got drenched. Ran into a guy hopping along the path, he’d rolled his ankle, heard a snap. I offered help. He said his wife was coming to pick him up. We kept moving.
Henry turned fifteen today. AirPods, a light up basketball, Calvin Klein Euphoria, a Nike hoodie. He seemed genuinely happy with all of it. Good gifts for him. 15 is pretty crazy.
Till pointed out that we only have a few more birthdays before he’s an adult. That hit differently than I expected. Soon the twins will be eleven, Alfie thirteen. The years just slip by and I feel like I hardly notice. Then suddenly I do.
What has happened over the last fifteen years? It’s gone so fast. So much has happened.
I keep returning to that question… not with dread, exactly. More like the feeling you get at the end of a long trail run when you look back at where you started and can’t quite believe you covered that ground. The body did it. The years did it. You were there for all of it and somehow also not.

Great post mate. Crazy how quick kids grow up.
